Leaks and flooded charge ports: BYD Ti7 owners in China report detached glass roofs

BYD‘s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Ti7 SUV reportedly faces widespread issues with its panoramic glass roof in China. Owners allege the glass roof comes loose at the left-rear corner, causing leaks, increased wind noise, and water pooling at the rear charging port.

12365auto, a Chinese auto consumer complaints platform, has logged 300 Ti7 complaints since the model’s launch in September 2025. Roof issues have been reported only for the Ti7 EV, with the first roof-related complaints appearing after the EV’s debut on April 30.

While marketed in China as the FCB Ti7, export markets will receive the PHEV and EV SUV simply as the BYD Ti7.

How the roof comes undone

Owners report that the panoramic glass roof detaches only at the left-rear corner, with the issue surfacing within one week of delivery. Reports also allege that the glass panel becomes loose and that owners can only push it back down temporarily.

SMZDM, a Chinese consumer guidance platform, reports roof leaks causing flooding at the Ti7’s charging port. The complaint, filed with 12365auto on June 23, has since been deleted.

3YC Ownership Report, a BYD-focused account on China’s WeChat platform, speculates that this issue is caused by production process complications, such as uneven adhesion or an imbalance in force during glass roof installation.

Because the roof issue is limited to the latest EV Ti7s, a Ti7 lineup design flaw is unlikely. No PHEV Ti7s have reported roof issues so far.

BYD & FCB’s response

BYD and affiliated FCB dealers have responded to 99.2% of the 300 complaints, including those on the recent glass roof issues, but owners remain unsatisfied.

One owner alleges that they were contacted by BYD’s after-sales service, offering to make amends if they deleted the complaint. The two parties failed to reach an agreement after the retraction, though, and no compensation or repairs were offered.

As of writing, 31 complaints have been officially filed about the detached glass roof. BYD responded that the issues have been forwarded to authorities and that owners should await contact from its staff.

More on the Ti7

The Ti7, also known as the Tai 7, is sold under the FCB sub-brand in China. According to China EV DataTracker, 17,510 Ti7s were delivered domestically in May 2026. This is down from the peak of 34,086 units in December 2025, when the Ti7 briefly became China’s third best-selling SUV.

BYD and FCB ramped up Ti7 EV deliveries in May and June 2026, with 1,800 and 4,554 units, respectively. Glass roof issues are suspected to have emerged during this ramp-up, and the automaker is expected to make a public comment soon.
